FIFA 18 will be a great game – but there’s definitely room for improvement.We’ve gone through fan sites, social media and used our experiences to come up with some things fans want to see in FIFA 18.

Many FIFA players may have come across the Web App but are yet to use it.And it gets better. Chances are it’s not going to change too much for FIFA 18 – so it’s the perfect time to familiarise yourself.
 

Bring back Indoor Mode

Believe it or not, the last game to feature Indoor Mode was FIFA 98 – that’s far too long ago. For years fans have wanted EA to bring it back – but there’s still no sign of it.
Being able to play with friends with a custom soundtrack belting out would be incredible – and go some way to please the thousands of fans wanting a FIFA 18 Street remake.

Career Mode needs some more love

It’s no secret that EA has pumped a lot more effort into Ultimate Team in the last few years – but Career Mode seems to have fallen by the wayside.The mode is still played by thousands of fans.Some have even started a petition to try and get an online version included in FIFA 18.A gamer, who claims to be in close contact with EA over the matter, is using a FIFA sub-Reddit to garner support for the petition.

He writes: “A long-requested and probably one of the most requested features has been to add an online version of career mode, similar to how Madden does their Connected Franchise.“A game mode where you could challenge your friends to fight for the Premier League title, while having bidding wars with others for players.Online would add a whole new dimension to career mode and IMO would increase the longevity of it.
“The guys working on the database and keeping it updated feel the same way, and have created a petition for our voices to be heard.”The petition currently sits at a just a couple of hundred signatures below the 10,000 target.

Smaller additions such as custom kits, badge and font changes after promotion, relegation and cup wins would help add to the immersion.

More realistic player decline

Some fans have noticed that EA is extremely harsh on players in their mid 30s.Petr Cech, 34, saw his kicking stat drop by 15 points in the first season alone.Other outfield players have seen drastic drops in their agility and speed scores – making them a shadow of what they were in the previous games.

One fan wrote: “I signed Federico Higuain (32) on a free at the end of the first season when he was a 77. It’s September and he’s already down to a 75.” Whilst it’s normal for players to slow down a touch as they head in to their mid 30s, the depreciation in FIFA 17 is too steep.

China and other new leagues

FIFA 17 features 35 leagues from around the world but that’s still not enough.We’re almost certain the Chinese Super League will be featured in FIFA 18 but other leagues from Ukraine, the Czech Republic, and Greece would also be a welcome.There are rumours the Indian Super League could be added, although this cannot be verified.

Improved set pieces

FIFA 17 completely rejigged penalties and free kicks, introducing a mechanic that focused on momentum and run-up. It takes some getting used to, but when it works, it allows for far more control over both set pieces.The system is still far from perfect, though.In penalties, keepers are prone to AI failure while the difficulty curve in free kicks is too steep.Both don’t feel as ‘connected’ as they should do, so we hope this is fixed for FIFA 18.
