The biggest change to the actual in-game play is that hitting has become somewhat harder. Using the zone receptacle , if you use Zone type hitting, becomes very important as you try to square up a pitch and get good contact. Also, on higher difficulty levels, the pitches come at you faster. However, it's not so much harder that you can't adapt to it with enough playing time. It is a bit of an adjustment if you're used to previous editions of The Show, however.
In Storyline Moments, players can journey through the past and present with a mix of player-lock and team gameplay. In Fantasy Moments, you can answer Baseball's biggest questions where you can play through Legend teams and scenarios. Moments will also be integrated in Diamond Dynasty. You'll take a squad of your favorite players into Moments and compete against legends and modern day superstars. With Moments, gone are the days of having to unlock a player before you get to play with him.
Let's just say it wasn't one for the record books. The MLB The Show cover star was 0-for-3 in his first game with his new squad. There are some interesting choices this year for sure. As a New York Yankee fan, I'm not complaining about their spot at the top of the ranking, but it is a little surprising that the defending champion Red Sox are as low as 6th below the St. Louis Cardinals and Bryce Harper-less Nationals. Again, no complaints here though. Unsurprisingly, the putrid and depleted Orioles are dead last, with the minor league team formerly known as the Miami Marlins is right beside them in 29th.
In MLB The Show 19 we have the luxury of Moments now. Moments are a great new addition to Diamond Dynasty which adds a series of historical themed challenges that will reward you with Stubs, EXP (which will earn you rewards over time now), and eventually highly rated cards (which should be your ultimate goal anyway, Stubs are just the means to that end). Jump into Moments and start knocking out anything that you feel you can succeed in. Don't go crazy bashing your head against the wall on really tough Moments if you're just trying to get Stubs fast.
MLB The Show 19's popular Road to the Show (RTTS) mode is back, of course. There's lots of new features this time around to make it feel more like an RPG such as perk trees, and player relationships. However, the core of the game is very much the same. If you're here, you're likely wondering how to get traded in RTTS in MLB The Show 19. Here's what we suggest.
